When Mini released the all-electric Cooper SE, it was clear that a convertible version of the same car would follow. Now, at a special event held in the US to celebrate summer, the British car company showed off the Cooper SE Convertible to a group of car fans. Check stoptechy for more news.
It looks the same as any other Cooper S convertible. And Mini says that the soft-folding top doesn’t cut into the 160-litre trunk space. The Cooper S Convertible has the same drivetrain as the standard Cooper S. According to the WLTP cycle, the range is said to be 230 kilometres. The electric folding soft-tops can be opened and closed in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 30kmph. The soft top can also be set in three ways: open, closed, or as a sunroof.
Mini said it was part of showing how fun the brand is, but keeping all the toys to yourself is about as bad as it gets. The decision to write “This toy is electric” on the side, making it so ugly that no one could possibly want one, was another bold move Mini made to show that it made this car and you can’t have it.
At the moment, there are no other details about the Mini Cooper SE Convertible. We think that production will start either at the end of this year or in 2023. We think that India will get the electric Mini Cooper Convertible as soon as it goes on sale everywhere else.
