India is building more than 800 EV charging stations on 16 national highways.

India’s highways will soon be better because more than 800 EV charging stations will be set up on 16 highways. This upcoming project aims to make long-distance commuters who use electric vehicles less worried about their range. The charging stations will also help fleet operators because they will be able to charge electric buses and other large commercial vehicles. The project is part of the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ FAME-II programme. It is meant to help both private and public transportation. This means that compatible electric buses and cars like the Hyundai Kona, Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, and others can all charge simultaneously. 800 EV charging stations.

On which highways will EV stations be helpful?

At the moment, the project needs to be done within six to eight months. In a statement about the project, more details were given and some busy highway routes were named. These included the Mumbai-Pune highway, the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Highway, the Delhi-Agra Yamuna Expressway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, the Hyderabad ORR Expressway, and the Agra-Nagpur Highway.

India’s Ministry of Power has told the CESL to start a large-scale electrification project. That will make it easier for people to use electric vehicles. It help India reach its future electrified mobility goals. The project will take into account how big the country is and will help 16 of the country’s highways.

The project will consider installing both 50kW and 100kW charging stations. Every 25 km, there will be as many as 590 chargers with a 50kW charging output; every 100 km. There will be 220 chargers with a 100kW charging output.
