Hyundai is working on a new generation of the Hyundai Kona Electric EV SUV, and a fully disguised model has been seen testing. The current generation of the Hyundai Kona Electric is based on a general architecture that is also used for the ICE-powered version, which is sold in markets all over the world. The Indian price for a Hyundai Kona Electric is less than Rs 25 lakh. On one end, it goes up against the new Tata Nexon EV MAX and the MG ZS EV. On the other end, it goes up against the MG ZS EV. The old version of the Kona Electric is sold in India. Since the updated Kona EV is already on sale in other parts of the world, Hyundai is likely to bring it to India soon.

The next generation Hyundai Kona was seen being tested, but it was completely covered up. So it’s hard to say much about how it will look on the outside. Outside of the Hyundai-Kia technical centre in Germany, the test mules were seen going through their paces. The electric Hyundai Kona that was spotted looked a lot like its ICE-powered siblings that had already been caught on camera. The car should be on sale everywhere in the world by 2024. But nobody knows when Kona Electric will be available in India.
The current generation of the Hyundai Kona EV comes in a single-tone colour for Rs 23.8 lakh and a two-tone colour for Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
But if you looked more closely, you’d see that the electric model has some small differences that make it different. Like the current model, there will be a hole in the front of the car, probably for the charging port. Since there’s no engine up front that needs to be cooled. The front fascia doesn’t look like it has any holes. This is typical of electric cars. But there could be small holes there to help cool the brakes and other moving parts.
Features (expected)
The Hyundai Kona Electric will look like other cars made by the Korean company. It should have a lot of bold design choices and small design details. The front lights could have a light bar and a main headlight unit mounted on the bumper. looks like the Stargazer MPV.
The hardware could include a 200-hp motor and a 65kWh battery pack, just like the Kia Niro EV SUV. The best electric Konas will have a range of at least 400 km. Hyundai could also make models with less power have smaller battery packs.
