Instagram, a Meta-owned messaging software, is popular. Because it allows users to post pictures, videos, and slideshows while also following sites of interest. Instagram introduced a new function earlier this year that enables users to conceal views and likes. Here’s how to conceal likes and comments on your own and other people’s posts.

Hide Instagram likes and views

Hiding likes and view counts on other people’s posts is a simple and uncomplicated process. To do so, go to your Instagram profile, hit the three-line menu in the upper right corner of the screen, and choose the ‘Settings’ option. Then go to the ‘Privacy’ area and choose Posts. Hide like and view counts would be an option. When you enable it, you will no longer see the amount of likes or views on other people’s posts.

Instagram users may also select whether or not others see the amount of likes and views on their photos. If you want to conceal the likes and views on a post before sharing it, go to the Advanced Settings section at the bottom and choose ‘Hide like and view counts on this post’.

Instagram also allows users to conceal the amount of likes and views for a lost post that has already been posted. To do so, open the post for which you want to conceal the likes and views count, tap on the three dot menu at the top right of the post, and then choose ‘Hide like count.’

Meanwhile, legal and privacy experts in India have slammed Instagram’s new feature that requests age-verification papers from users. Meta extended the trial phase for age-verification for Instagram users to India and Brazil on Thursday. Until now, the function was exclusively accessible in the United States.

Instagram now allows users to verify their age in three ways. By submitting ID, shooting a video selfie, or asking a friend to verify. When users under the age of 18 change their date of birth on the site, the function is enabled. “While verified accounts are a safety net, requiring social media users to produce identification cards including not just personal but sensitive personal information is not a welcome trend.”

“This is especially true when there are evident gaps in the legislation regarding the protection of such data,” said N.S. Nappinai, Supreme Court lawyer and founder of Cyber Saathi.
