The Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU) will make an integrated course for its Diploma in Automobile Engineering students to learn how to become “Electric Vehicle mechanics.” They also said that each year, 100 students will get training in basic and advanced EV mechanics, as well as internship and apprenticeship opportunities.

DSEU, the World Resources Institute (WRI) India, and Hero Electric Vehicles Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The university will design the program’s course structure and curriculum from start to finish, with help from Hero Electric, which will design the study materials and give students opportunities for practical training and internships.

As the program’s “knowledge partner,” WRI India will help with research, monitoring, and evaluating.

Jasmine Shah, vice chairperson of the Dialogue and Development Commission (DDC) in Delhi, said, “The EV mechanics training programme is the first in a series of short and long-term courses that the Delhi government will start to become the training hub for the EV workforce in India. The programme has made it possible for thousands of green jobs to be created in Delhi.

“These projects will make it easier to move around and save gas. Spices, chanderi silk, and tribal art will be able to get to all parts of the country more easily, as will electrical transformers. Tourism promoted, and jobs made. As a result, the Chambal region will grow and the state will do well “In a statement, the Ministry of Roads and Highways said.

Ms. Shah emphasised that launching this “much-needed” training programme meets two of the Delhi Government’s top goals: creating a skilled and trained workforce as outlined in its “Rozgar budget 2022-23” and making Delhi the EV capital of India, which is Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s dream.

In August 2020, the government of Delhi announced its Electric Vehicles Policy.
