Ashutosh Gowariker’s epic period drama Lagaan, which came out 20 years ago, was the perfect mix of history, Bollywood, and cricket. Lagaan takes place in 1893, during the late Victorian era of the British Raj in India. The story is about a small village in Central India whose people live . Who has to pay a lot of taxes? Gowariker talked to Aamir Khan again after three months, but he had a full script this time. Amir upset Gowariker kept working on it, so he turned down the movie again. “When I first listened to the narrative, I intrigued. The final script of Lagaan was amazing and I loved it. I told him, “It’s a great script that breaks the record for popular movies.” I’m afraid to say yes, though. He had said, “I can’t do it.”
