LAKE OZARK, Mo. — Clint Bowyer, a former NASCAR driver who now works for Fox Sports as a commentator, hit and killed a pedestrian on an exit ramp from a highway in southwest Missouri earlier this month, according to police.
A report from Lake Ozark police says that the crash happened on June 5 on a ramp off of U.S. 54 near Osage Beach, Missouri.
Bowyer, who born and raised in Emporia, Kansas, stopped as soon as the accident happened and called 911, police said. The woman, who was from Camdenton and was 47 years old, died at the scene.
The crash report says Bowyer didn’t show any signs of drunk and gave a blood sample on the side of the road that showed no alcohol.
Residents of the RV park where the woman was staying said they thought she high on drugs, according to the police statement.
Bowyer will be done with the Cup Series in 2020, 15 years he won 10 races. Since he started working at Fox Sports as a second job, he has been a big hit.
